Electrification attracts a lot of enthusiasm and a certain amount of salesmanship. We would rather be the people who show you the working.
Who we are
Marshall Street, Redwood City
A small shop in downtown Redwood City. San Carlos, Belmont, San Mateo, Menlo Park and Atherton are all inside fifteen minutes, and almost everything we do is within that ring.
The speciality came from the questions we were being asked. Once enough people on the Peninsula started asking about heat pumps, it became obvious that the honest answer required looking at the electrical panel and the duct system, and that almost nobody was doing either before quoting. So we built the business around doing both.
The person who carries out the assessment is the person who does the work. There is no sales department, and nobody here earns commission on equipment.
How we work
Five commitments
- 01 — Assess before quoting
- Building load, duct performance, panel capacity and your rate plan. On an electrification project the assessment is the product; the installation is execution.
- 02 — No invented savings
- We will not put a savings figure on a quote. We will run the arithmetic with your actual rate plan during the assessment and show you the working, including when the answer is unflattering.
- 03 — Hidden costs up front
- Panel upgrades and duct work are quoted at the beginning, not discovered halfway through. A surprise on week two is a failure of the assessment, not bad luck.
- 04 — No commission
- Nobody here earns more by selling a heat pump. It is the only arrangement under which "repair the furnace this year and convert when it fails" can be a real recommendation.
- 05 — Rebates as they actually are
- We prepare the paperwork for whatever programme is genuinely open when your job runs, and we do not build a quote around an incentive that has closed or run out of funds.

The boring part that protects you
Ask any contractor for these before they touch the house. We would rather you did.
Refrigerant handling
EPA Section 608 certified technicians, proper recovery equipment, and refrigerant handled and recorded as the regulations require.
Electrical scope
We assess panel capacity and produce the load calculation as part of a mechanical project. Service upgrades and panel work are carried out by a licensed electrical contractor we coordinate with.
Limits
What we do not do
Being specific about the edges is part of being trustworthy inside them.
- Electrical service upgrades and panel replacement. We assess, calculate and coordinate; a licensed electrical contractor does the work.
- Solar, batteries and heat-pump water heaters. Adjacent, often sensible, not our trade.
- Commercial mechanical work and refrigeration.
- A 24-hour emergency service. We are too small to staff one honestly.
- Installing equipment somebody else supplied. We warranty what we fit, which means we choose it.
- Quoting a heat pump without testing the ducts, however much a customer would prefer we skipped that part.
